LOCKPORT —
Once again, the Lockport Little Loop Bucs can claim bragging rights and the coveted Alumni Bowl trophy as they defeated the Pendleton Lions, 38-20, Saturday, in the sixth-annual “Alumni Bowl” youth football pre-season opener at Exchange Club Field, Outwater Park.
Levette Warren ran for 164 yards and three touchdowns to pace head coach Gil Eaton’s 145-pound division team.
LLLF quarterback Brandon Brott was 8-for-11 passing, good for 67 yards and two TDs. Kahlil James added 80 yards on just seven carries on the ground.
The outcome was never in doubt as Brott and the Bucs came out slinging, completing their first seven passes in the first quarter — two for scores — to take a 16-0 lead. The Bucs upped their lead to 24-6 at halftime, then both teams put up 14 points in the second half.
The win was Lockport’s fifth over Pendleton in the last six years.
Offensively, the Bucs finished with an impressive 409 total yards, five touchdowns and four, 2-point conversions.
Warren was voted the game’s Offensive MVP, while Kelly Brown of the Bucs was named Defensive MVP. Brown picked off two Lions passes and returned one for a 25-yard score.
Cordell McDowell also had an LLLF interception. Leading tacklers for the Bucs were Jahoun Drisdan and Kyliek Bembo with seven each and Joe Townsend and Charles Butera with six apiece.
The Bucs will open their regular season at 3 p.m. on Sept. 12 against the Lions at Shirley Tudor Stadium in Pendleton.
Bucs 26, Vikings 13
The Bucs scored on their first three possessions in an Aug. 21 pre-season win over the Grand Island Jr. Vikings.
Lavette Warren opened the scoring with a 42-yard scamper around the left side to paydirt. Lavette would finish the day with 143 yards and three touchdowns.
Warren also connected with Andrew Austin on a 53-yard touchdown pass. Austin added a 58-yard TD run to end the day with 129 yards on just four carries.
Defensively, warren led the way with five tackles. Dante Mount added four tackles and a fumble recovery, while Jon Patterson added three tackles and two fumble recoveries.
