COLLEGE ROUNDUP (Oct. 15): NU hoops tix go on sale
Single game tickets for Niagara’s men’s basketball home games went on sale Tuesday.
The Purple Eagles open the season Nov. 16 when Towson visits the Gallagher Center. Niagara will also host non-conference games against Appalachian State (Nov. 22), Akron (Dec. 3), and a Bracket Buster opponent to be determined later.
Niagara will also play nine Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference games at home, including the Jan. 26 date with rival Canisius, and a Feb. 27 matchup with defending MAAC champion Siena.
Tickets can be purchased during business hours at Dwyer Arena box office, by phone (286-TIXX) or online (PurpleEagles.com).
Women’s Volleyball
NCCC sweeps Erie
Kathie Kreppenneck (Starpoint) recorded 32 assists as the visiting Trailblazers beat their local rivals in three games (25-17, 25-16, 25-20). NCCC (17-2) plays its final home game Oct. 21 against Genesee.
Cuse sweeps NU
Lauren Costello and Hannah Hedrick each had seven kills as the Purple Eagles feel to 3-17 overall with the straight-set loss (25-18, 25-13, 25-17). Syracuse is now 12-9. Niagara hosts two of the weaker teams in the MAAC, Rider and Loyola, this weekend.
Golf
NU’s Kenney takes 13th
Niagara freshman Trevor Kenney shot a career-best 75 on Tuesday to finish 13th overall at the Robert Morris Holiday Inn Colonial Classic. The Purple Eagles took eighth place overall. Jason Polka (Lew-Port) followed up an 81 on Monday with a second-round 77 to finish 27th.
