MMA: Jensen, Edwards set to square off at casino
Kyle Jensen brought a little something extra to Friday’s weigh-in for the Mayhem in the Mist at Seneca Niagara Casino.
He hopes to do the same in tonight’s marquee fight.
Jensen weighed in at 155.5 pounds for tonight’s main event against Yves Edwards, just over the 155-pound threshold. Fortunately for the Red Lake Falls, Minn., native the contract for fighters allows for up to one pound over the limit.
The Mixed Martial Arts event, which is nearing a sellout, is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.
Jensen brings a 36-10-2 record into tonight’s event, and the veteran fighter is hoping his recent alliance with Camarillo jujitsu instructor Jared Feierabend and Brock Larson will net dividends.
Edwards, meanwhile, is hoping tonight’s fight will restart his career. Once on cards with PRIDE, EliteXC and UFC, Edwards brings a 34-15-1 record into the octagon.
The founder of a style he calls “thug-Jitsu,” Edwards is now training with American Top Team.
