MIDDLEPORT —
Newfane’s girls swim team repeated as Niagara-Orleans League champions on Thursday, while Royalton-Hartland’s boys team claimed its fifth straight league championship.
The five-time defending champion Rams clinched at least a tie for their fifth consecutive title by defeating visiting Albion, 116-54, to stay perfect at 8-0.
The Lady Panthers clinched at least a tie for the title by downing Akron (3-4-1) 112-58 to stay unbeaten at 8-0.
The Roy-Hart girls completed the sweep by defeating Albion 122-46 to improve to 6-2. Akron’s boys regained the .500 mark at 4-4 by downing Newfane 97-67.
In Barker, Medina defeated Barker 95-75 in the boys meet, but the Lady Raiders gained a split, beating the Lady Mustangs, 104-66, to go to 4-3-1 in the league on the season.
Individual event wins by Jason Beabout (200 free), Josh Beabout (200 individual medley), Zach Yates (50 fee), Jeff Durbin (500 free) and Kurtis Parker (100 breaststroke) keyed the win for the Rams.
Rachel Johnston doubled in the 50 and 100 free and Sarah DiMayo in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke to lead the Lady Rams.
Lil Masters doubled in the 100 and 200 freestyles and Allie DeBiase in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke for the Newfane girls, who took first place in 10 of 11 events.
Ben Austin, Kai Baunacher and Steve Hann teamed up with Sean Evoy to win the 200 freestyle relay and with Bryer Boyce to take the 400 free relay to highlight the victory by the Mustangs.
Brian Alt doubled in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke and Phil Schumacher in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke for Barker.
Individual event double winners Ruth Gendrue (individual medley, 500 free) and Rheanne Levy (50 and 100 free) led the way for the Lady Raiders, who took first place in all 11 events.

TONAWANDA — At Manor Lanes, Lockport senior co-captain Tyler Laubacker led the Lions with a 205-610 series, but it wasn’t enough in Thursday’s battle for sole possession of second place in the Niagara Frontier League.
With the loss, head coach Marion Singleton’s Lions dropped to 7-4 in the NFL.
Rob Ricketts led the Blue Devils (8-3 NFL) with a 233-621 set.

TONAWANDA — Brittany Wright led the Lady Lions with a 235-639 series as Lockport improved to 4-7 in the NFL.
Carrie Brown topped the Lady Blue Devils (3-8 NFL) with a 233-590.
