LOCKPORT — Despite a pin victory from Ivan Cruz on Wednesday, the Lockport Lions dropped a 39-19 Niagara Frontier League match to visiting Niagara Falls.
Cruz pinned Cory Schuster of the Wolverines (2-2 NFL) in 25 seconds in their 103-pound bout.
Other winners for head coach Joe Scapelliti’s Lions (1-2 NFL) were Zach Flores (112), Chris Fuerschbach (145) and Salvador Pagan (152).
Flores won by forfeit, Fuerschbach decisioned Albert Buck, 8-5; and Pagan won by injury default over Erik Stopa, 10-2.
Earning pins for Niagara Falls were Joe DiFrancesco (135), Irvin Buck (140) and Ken Hamilton (189).
N-W 42, Ken West 16
The battle foir first place in the NFL wasn’t even close on Wednesday.
Antonio Ventry (145), Bobby Malvestuto at 152, Jake Kelly at 171 and Angelo Malvestuto at 189 all got pins for Wheatfield (4-0 NFL).
The Blue Devils dropped to 3-1 in the NFL.
Grand Island 36, NT 30
Andrew Lalonde got a pin at 141 as the Vikings (3-1 NFL) got the close win.
NT (0-4 NFL) got four pins from Tyler Bruce, Jeffrey Schreckengost, Cody Klawiter and Michael Testa.
Newfane 42, Wilson 35
NEWFANE — Pins by Jason Jolley (103), David Ciaramella (125), Josh Martin (135) and Max Russell (171) highlighted the victory for Newfane (3-1 N-O).
Isaiah Barrett (96), Brandon Culverwell (160) and Austin Fisher (189) all notched pins for Wilson (1-3 N-O).
Albion 68, Medina 18
MEDINA — The Purple Eagles (2-1 N-O) were given forfeit wins in 10 of the 15 bouts.
Medina (1-3 N-O) did take four of the five bouts that were wrestled on the mat including a first period pin by Franklin Hartway (125), a second period fall by Dominic Montesanti (140) and one-point decision wins by Derek Geiger (135) and Dylan Duncanson (145).
