RANSOMVILLE —
Wilson Middle school seventh grader Zachary Peters of Ransomville won the East Coast New York State Speedway Championships last month at Action Park Speedway.
The championship races took place over two events. Zachary placed second at the first round in Green, then the 13-year-old motorcycle rider placed first at the round two event which took place at Champion Speedway in Oswego.
Zachary began his speedway motorcycle riding career at the age of nine after watching his father, Edward Peters, also of Ransomville, win the same championship several years ago.
Zach has won several championships since. The motorcycles he races use methanol as a fuel source and climb from zero to sixty in two and one half seconds.
The motorcycle has one gear and no brakes.
Zach is currently sponsored by Waterfront Services and Moto-Zone Suspension of Newfane and Claude’s Custom Canvas of Lyndonville.
