Treehaven man arrested for alleged assault

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A Lockport woman claimed she was assaulted twice by a resident of Treehaven Drive on Wednesday. The suspect was arrested at 9:15 p.m. in Amherst.

James W. Blum Jr. 43, 53 Treehaven Drive was charged with third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief, aggravated criminal contempt and third-degree menacing.

According to the arrest report, the victim picked up her boyfriend, Blum, in Williamsville and began driving on the Thruway. When she asked questions about a meeting, Blum hit her in the jaw and under her nose.

When she confronted Blum after learning he was not truthful, he punched her in the face twice and pushed her head into the bed. As she tried to leave, he grabbed her by the neck and lifted her up off the ground. He shoved her head into the door.

Blum dropped her to the ground, kicked her and bit her. He took the victim’s keys but she was able to pull the keys from him. Blum attempted to come at her again and she ran to a neighbor’s house to call the police.

The victim was taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport for treatment and photographs were taken.

A cordless phone valued at $250 was broken when Blum attempted to keep the victim from calling.

In March, Blum was charged Friday with attempted third-degree assault. According to the report, when the victim said their relationship was over, Blum allegedly struck her in the face with a closed fist.
