Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — POLICE REPORTS

City of Lockport

DWI/DRUGS: Michelle J. Hoover, 31, 201 East Avenue was charged at 7:58 p.m. Friday with driving while intoxicated, unlawful possession of marijuana and unreasonable speed. According to the report, Lockport Police observed Hoover, the driver of a westbound vehicle, to have red glassy eyes, slurred speech and impaired motor skills during a traffic stop. Hoover told police that she had ingested a large amount of prescription drugs and marijuana before operating the vehicle. She then failed multiple field sobriety tests. A plastic bag containing what later testing identified as marijuana was found following a vehicle search. Hoover is scheduled to appear Monday in City Court.

Town of Cambria

DRUGS: Amanda S. Edmister, 26, 35 Orchard St., Lockport was charged Saturday with unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on Saunders Settlement Road. According to the report, a Niagara County Sheriff's patrol immediately smelled the odor of marijuana, but Edmister, the driver of the eastbound vehicle, said she had smoked earlier that night but had no drugs in her possession. During a safety pat down, the patrol observed a pair of items stuffed into Edmister's clothing. She reached into her shirt and handed the patrol a knife and then pulled out a small baggy, saying "Oh (expletive), I do have some marijuana." Edmister passed all field sobriety tests and was given an appearance ticket. She is scheduled to appear March 5 in Town of Cambria Court.
