Lucille R. "Lucky" Van Dusen

SAN CLEMENTE, CA —  

Lucille R. "Lucky" Van Dusen, lifetime resident of Lockport, NY, passed away on November 16, 2012 at the home of her daughter in San Clemente, CA. Born on September 11, 1923 in Lockport, she was the daughter of Edward and Irene (Volshow) Kandt.
She was a graduate of Lockport High School, Class of 1941, and attended St. Joseph's Business School. After schooling, she started her career at Harrison Radiator and later went to work in the family businesses, Van Dusen Sales and Services Inc., Van Dusen Cleaning Village, Van Dusen Enterprises and Van Dusen Realty, retiring in 1999. Lucky was very active in Trinity Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and the Altar Guild of the church, Lockport Memorial Hospital Guild, American Legion Auxiliary. She was also active in area golf and bowling leagues. In her youth she was an active skater and tennis player; avid puzzle enthusiast and traveled extensively.
"Lucky" had been married to Earl Amyotte and the late William F. Hemmer and Marshall A. Van Dusen. She is the mother of Kathleen Hemmer Carr, Kevin M. (Ann) Van Dusen, Keith E. (Debra) Van Dusen; step-mother of Marcia Van Dusen Farley and the late Edmund E. Van Dusen; grandmother of Matthew (Sara) and Eric Van Dusen, Kelly (Anthony) Fudella, Cheryl (Robert) Stenberg, Carla (Gene) Cody, Pauline Farley and Jeffrey (Kim) Farley; great-grandmother of fifteen. She is also survived by her sister, Evelyn (Carlton) Roberts; brother, Richard (Freda) Kandt; and her dear friend and caregiver, Julietta Lerma.
Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning at 10 AM in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 67 Saxton Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church Abiding Memorial Fund or the Hospice of Saddleback Valley c/o Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, 23521 Paseo de Valencia, Suite 100, Laguna Hills, CA 92653 would be appreciated by the family.
