Vincent F. Schiavitti

LOCKPORT — Vincent F. Schiavitti entered into rest, unexpectedly, on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Born in Lockport in Lowertown on January 18, 1931. He was the son of Severino Anthony and Jessimina (Valery) Schiavitti. Vince married the former Patricia Mesler at St. Patrick's Church on September 6, 1954.

He worked as a butcher at the family-owned Lowertown Food Market. He was a photographer for the National Guard. Vince retired from the Niagara County Sheriff's Department as the Chief Jailer. He also worked for New York Central Railroad as a fireman. He was an avid sportsman. He loved fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.

He was the beloved husband of Patricia Schiavitti; beloved father of Anthony J. (Trina), Vincent W. (Heidi), Bill (Tina), Lynneanne (Danny), and Stacy (Dave); cherished grandfather of Justin, Billy, Mikey, Ethan, Allison, Camryn, Dominic, Jason and Adam; dear brother of Mary Jane (late Jack) White; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at a time to be announced. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Taylor and Reynolds Funeral Home.
