DURHAM, NC —
James W. Hamill, 78, died on January 30, 2013 in Palm Springs, CA. He was a native of Pekin, NY, the son of the late Donald C. and Edith Clancy Hamill.
He graduated from Wilson Central High School and was a 1955 graduate of Cornell University. Jim was a US Army veteran. Most of his working career was spent with the McGraw-Hill Companies in New York City and San Francisco. After retiring he moved to Palm Springs. Jim was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Pekin, NY and an affiliate member of Palm Springs United Methodist Church. He had many close friends across the country and they, along with his family, will miss his wit and humor.
Jim is survived by his brother, Carl and wife, Sue, of Durham, NC; his nephew, Jeffrey Hamill and wife, Susan, of Darien, CT; his niece, Susan H. Clark and husband, Christopher, of Westford, MA; and six grandnieces and nephews.
A family graveside service will be held in Chapel Hill, NC. The family is being assisted in Durham by Clements Funeral Service, Inc.
