Doris A. Arnold

MIDDLEPORT —

Doris A. Arnold, of Middleport, passed away peacefully, Wednesday afternoon, March 6, 2013, at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home with her son by her side. Mrs. Arnold was born in Cliffton Springs, NY, on June 2, 1920, to the late John W. and Edith M. (Brooks) Thaine.
Her family moved to Medina in 1922 and lived on Orient St. until they moved to Middleport in 1939. She married James W. Arnold of Medina on February 26, 1943. During her married life, she was a housewife and "stay at home mom" raising two sons. She loved gardening, collecting most anything, her father's farm where her son now lives and couldn't turn away from a hungry looking cat or dog on her porch.
She was predeceased by her mother in 1956; her father in 1983; her brother, William Wilkins Thaine, in 1944; her husband in 1990; and a son, James R. Arnold in 2001. She was also predeceased by a brother and sister-in law, Kenneth and Arlene Arnold of Medina. She is survived by a son, William K. Arnold of Middleport; a daughter-in-law, Christey L. Arnold of Attica, NY; a granddaughter, Sandra L.(Jamie) Reynolds of Jamestown, NY; a grandson, Christopher J. (Tricia) Arnold of Brockport. NY;  two great-grandsons, Evan J. and Alex W. Reynolds of Jamestown; several nephews and nieces; and her favorite cat among several she adopted, Molly. She was looking forward to the birth of two additional great-grandchildren (twins) this coming summer.
There will be no prior calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Monday at 2 PM at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. The Rev. Michael Stephenson, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot at Boxwood Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home for the care they provided their loved one during the last two months. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Niagara County SPCA or an animal shelter of one's choice.
