LOCKPORT —
Antonina Filipertis, of Lockport, NY, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born on May 28, 1924 in Lodz, Poland, she was the daughter of Antoni and Wiktoria Szyhowska Roman. Mrs. Filipertis came to the United States on July 30, 1951, and became a naturalized citizen on June 5, 1957. She retired in 1986 from Denny's Restaurant where she was a waitress. She was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church and Niagara Art Guild. Some of her many talents included oil painting, crocheting, knitting and sewing.
Mrs. Filipertis was predeceased by her husband, Marian Filipertis in 1997; and her brother, Antoni Roman. She is survived by her children, Jadwiga (Jay) Kwoka, Dorothy (Daniel) Fitzgerald and James Filipertis, all of Lockport; six grandchildren, Michelle Kwoka, Jay Paul (Michelle) Kwoka, both of Lockport, William (Jana) Kwoka of Spencerport, Daniel Fitzgerald, Christopher Fitzgerald and Shawn Fitzgerald, all of Lockport; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Anneliese Ulas, Loraine Richardson and Mickey Hawkes.
Friends may call on Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Lange Funeral Home, Inc., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 11:00 AM from St. Mary's Church, 5 Saxton Street, Lockport, NY. Interment in Cold Spring Cemetery.
