Melvin "Corky" Payne, of Newfane, husband of Helen Gunby Payne, entered into rest Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in Buffalo, NY. Melvin was born in Lockport, NY on July 6, 1930. Son of the late Walter and Henrietta Freck Payne. Melvin and Helen married on February 10, 1956. He worked at Simonds Saw in Lockport, NY. Melvin served in the Air Force from 1951-1953. He raised pigeons and was a member of the Lockport Pigeon Club. He loved to garden in the summer. Melvin and Helen wintered in Florida for 25 years.
Father of Terry Payne of Newfane, NY. Brother of the late Kenny, Floyd, Chester, Walter, Elva and Lorraine.
Friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main St., Newfane, NY 14108, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9PM, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11AM. Burial will be held at Wrights Corners Cemetery following the funeral services. Donations to American Diabetes Association, 315 Alberta Drive, Amherst, NY 14226.
