Mary Ellen Truscio

LOCKPORT — Mary Ellen Truscio passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013, at Niagara Hospice House.  Born on March 29, 1934 in Syracuse, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Margaret (Swartz) Mawhinney. Mary served in the US Navy from 1952 to 1954 when she was honorably discharged. Mrs. Truscio then did volunteer work for the Lockport Senior Citizen Center under the direction of Betty Dale. Mary became a sales agent for Bennet Homes for five years before joining John Collins Real Estate and Hunt Real Estate, working there for 20 years before retiring in 1991.

Surviving is her husband of 58 years, Larry Truscio, whom she married on May 29, 1954. Also survived by son, James (Lillian) Truscio and daughter, Ann Marie Truscio, both of Lockport.  She was predeceased by her four brothers, Richard, James, William and Raymond Mawhinney.

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, February 27th from 4-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 28th at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Donations to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094, would be appreciated.
