Charles R. Bills

RANSOMVILLE — Charles R. Bills, age 77, of Ransomville, died Sunday, July 1, 2012 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, after a short illness.

Charles was born July 1, 1935 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Charles E. and Jean  (Newing) Bills and was a lifelong resident of Ransomville. He attended Wilson High School and played bugle as a member of the Ransomville Drum & Bugle Corp from 1950-1954. He was employed by RC Gates Lumber Co. in Ransomville for many years, as well as owning and operating his own business, CR Bills Contractor, for upwards of 43 years. Charles was a member of the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Co. for 56 years. He enjoyed time with his family and friends, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy C. (Balcom) Bills, whom he married September 18, 1965; his children, Steven (Tanya) Bills, Joanna (Jody) Major and Heather (Joseph) Fekete; his sisters, Beverly (late Frank) Jeffery, Gail (Elmer) Holstrom, both of Ransomville, and Jacqueline (Scott) Fetterhoff of Jay, ME; a brother, Paul (Brenda) Bills of            Ransomville; his grandchildren, Scott Fekete, Katielee (Jake) Crandall, Dustin and Kyle Mattoon, and Brayden Bills; his great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Sunset Crandall; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Thursday from 1-4:30 and 7-9 PM. Ransomville Volunteer Fire Co. will hold services at 6:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6 at 1:00 PM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Ronald Logan officiating. Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria. Memorials may be made to the Ransomville Vol. Fire Co. Ambulance Fund or Antique Truck Fund, PO Box 239, Ransomville, NY 14131; or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
