Anna M. Melcher

NEWFANE — Anna M. Melcher passed away February 27, 2013 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Newfane. She was born December 24, 1924 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of George and Rosa (Cummings) Burns. She had worked for the Pierce Arrow Co. during WW II and then for a short time at the Kittinger Furniture in Buffalo. She attended the Salvation Army, a member of the Salvation Army Home League and enjoyed knitting, playing cards and crocheting hats and mittens for local organizations and churches.

Anna was predeceased by her husband, James Melcher, whom she married on May 25, 1956; he died in 1994. Survived by her children, Joseph Hilton, Ronald (Judy) Schmidt, both of Lockport, and James (Kendra) Melcher, Jr. of North Carolina. Anna is also survived by her four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Anna was also predeceased by her daughter, Margaret Ann Melcher; son, George Pribeck and daughters-in-law, Joyce (Baldwin) Hilton and Marilyn (Sanney) Hilton.  

Relatives and friends may call Sunday, March 3, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where funeral services will be held     Monday morning at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
