MORRISVILLE, VT —
Eloise May Haight McKinley, born Jan. 29, 1912, in Barker, NY, the daughter of Harry Albert and Lulu Emma (Pease) Haight, died March 23, 2012, at age 100. She had five siblings, deceased, and her mother, her father's second wife, Clara Smith. She married Howard Douglas McKinley May 27, 1938. Howard preceded her in death Dec. 27, 1984. She leaves children and their spouses, Kathleen Ann (Everett W. Harris, deceased), Jane Eloise (Peter Princehorn) and Joseph Bernard (June Parker); and grandchildren and spouses, Heather Princehorn (Greg Wilson), Michael Princehorn, Susannah Harris (Bryan Dicker), Elizabeth Harris (Dan Bigman), Quentin McKinley and Julia McKinley; and great-grandchildren, Aria Princehorn, Bryan Wilson, Maxwell, Katherine and Samuel Dicker and Emily Bigman. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Erma Haight and nieces and nephews.
Eloise grew up on Lake Ontario on a large fruit farm. She attended one of the nation's first union schools, Barker High School, and graduated as salutatorian and edited the yearbook. She graduated first in her class as a registered nurse from Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital and worked as a surgical nurse before marriage. Howard was manager of Detrex Chemical Plant, Ashtabula, OH. They lived in Ashtabula from1948-1964.
She died peacefully. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Audubon Vermont, 255 Sherman Hollow Road, Huntington, VT 05462.
Services will be at Puffer Methodist Church, Morrisville, at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 14. Burial will follow at Riverbank Cemetery, Stowe, VT, White-Fiess Funeral Home in charge. There are no calling hours.
