Lawrence F. "Frank" Bernard, Jr.

LYNDONVILLE —  

Lawrence F. "Frank" Bernard, Jr., of Lyndonville, formerly of Middleport, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Medina Memorial Healthcare System. Mr. Bernard was born in Medina, NY, on April 6, 1939 son of the late Lawrence F. Bernard, Sr. and Bernice (Gursslin) Bernard and he has lived in Middleport all of his life.
Mr. Bernard served in the US Navy from 1957-1961. He and his wife, Barbara( McKee) Bernard, were married on February 15, 1958. Mr. Bernard was the Owner-President of SigmaMotor, Inc., in Middleport for 43 years retiring in 2005. SigmaMotor's made the first pump for open heart surgery. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish/St. Stephen's RC Church in Middleport where he served as a Eucharist Minister, taught Bible Study and was a Lay Minister. He enjoyed his family, was a member of the NRA and was an avid hunter, fisherman, enjoyed hiking and photography. He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Bernard.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bernard; a son, Daniel (Linda) Bernard of Barker; a daughter, Shari (Donald) Heschke, Jr., of Gasport; his grandchildren, Jeremy Bernard of Barker, Emily (Eric) Lunde of South Carolina, Tristan Heschke, Ian Heschke and Casidne Heschke, all of Gasport; two great-grandchildren, Lucy Lunde and Reagan Lunde both of South Carolina. Also surviving is one brother and three sisters, Robert (Rose) Bernard of Middleport, Mary (Edward) Taylor of Gasport, Carol (Richard) Costello of Barker, Kathleen (Richard) Scarborough of Middleport; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday from 3-8 PM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport. Members of Holy Trinity Parish will meet at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 7:30 PM for a Vigil Service. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Parish/St. Stephen's RC Church, 21 Vernon St., Middleport, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Fawls and the Rev. Joseph Badding. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby, NY. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials to the Leukemia Society or Niagara Hospice would be appreciated by the Bernard family.
