MIDDLEPORT —
Hugh J. Dieter, Jr., of Middleport, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 1, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Dieter was born in Lockport, July 15, 1936, a son of the late Hugh Joseph and Gladys P. (Wolfe) Dieter, Sr. A graduate of Newfane High School, class of 1955, he served in the US Army and married the former Rosemary M. Robarge on May 25, 1963. He was employed by Harrison Radiator Division of GMC for 35 years, and retired in 1998. He also worked at the Albion Walmart as a greeter.
He loved roller skating, fishing, hunting, knitting and was an avid Yankees fan. He was a former member of St. Patrick's RC Church in Barker and the Holy Name Society. He was a member of St. Andrew Parish in Sloan.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Rosie Dieter; six children, Patrick Dieter of TX, Steven (Marcy) Dieter, John (Katie) Dieter, Anne Mangold, Rebecca Dieter and Mary (Eddie) Ortiz, all of Medina; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; his sister, Christine Berry of Newfane; a niece; two nephews and several cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Brian J. Dieter, on May 13, 2007.
Friends may call on Sunday (1-5) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. The Rev. Fabian J. Maryanski will celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, at 11AM, at St. Andrew Church, 34 Francis St., Sloan. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Medina.
