Mary Frances Balk

LOCKPORT — Mary Frances Balk passed away on October 8, 2012 in Niagara Hospice House. Born in Lockport on July 18, 1937, she was the daughter of Elmer and Margaret (Ritzenthaler) Reggentine.

Mary was a registered nurse for 41 years working for Lockport Memorial Hospital in the maternity ward, also working for Dr's. Buerger, Daly & Kirol and at Odd Fellows Nursing Home, retiring in 2007. She was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed cooking, was an avid NY Yankees fan and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Michael Balk of Lockport; beloved mother of Mark (Sue) Balk of Greenville, SC, Jeff (Donna) Balk of Tampa, FL, Tom Balk, Tim (Cheri) Balk, both of Newfane, Kari Balk of Lockport and the late Michael Balk who passed away in 1982; cherished grandmother of Mark, Rachel, Sadie, Jason, Justin, Jonthan, Jilly, Hollianne, Chelsea, Christopher, Molly, Michaila and great-grandmother of Sean; dear sister of Robert (Gretchen) Reggentine of Lockport; aunt of Gina, Andrea and Trisha.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, October 12th from 4-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 13th at 11 AM in All Saints Parish at St. Mary's Church, 5 Saxton St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. Donations to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated by the family.
