RANSOMVILLE —
Sharon E. Zimmerman, age 61, of Ransomville, NY, died Monday, April 9, 2012 in the Cleveland Clinic, after a lengthy illness.
Sharon was born March 16, 1951 in Lockport, NY, the daughter of the late Clifford and Evelyn (Etherton) Averell. She was a graduate of Wilson High School, Class of 1969, and married Russell A, Zimmerman on August 16, 1969. Sharon worked on her family's farm, Averell Farms, for many years. From 1990 to her retirement in 2001, she was employed as a typist by Niagara County Community College. Sharon was a member of the Ransomville Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida, swimming, walking, auto racing, computers and making her famous "mashed potatoes". Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Russell; a son, Russell "Bub" (Sarah) Zimmerman of Youngstown; her grandchildren, Brendan and Meghan Zimmerman; two sisters, Lorraine DeRize of Ransomville and Carol (Sid) Jeffery of the Town of Cambria; and her father-in-law, Albert Zimmerman of Ransomville. She was predeceased by a sister, Maxine Bentley.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 13 at 11:00 AM in the Ransomville Free Methodist Church, 3924 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville, with the Rev. William Lowery officiating.
