The school year began early Wednesday across much of Niagara County with the return of school buses along the highways and byways, carrying kids back to books, teachers, homework and friends. On the way to Starpoint School District’s campus, the big yellow buses were enveloped in fog on their way along Saunders Settlement Road.
While students sharpened their pencils, teachers attempted to sharpen the kids’ minds with lesson plans carefully honed to clear out the cobwebs from a summer away from the books.
The youngsters paraded down the halls under the teachers’ watchful eyes, studied the educational displays, cracked the books and looked forward to the lunches and conversations with their buddies.
All in all, it was a good day to be a kid.
