Big Sugar closes 2010 Molson Canal Concert Series

 Canadian reggae rockers Big Sugar took the stage for another packed house Friday night at the Molson Canal Concert Series season closer at Ulrich City Centre. This was the first U.S. appearance of the reunited band since 2003.

The opening acts included the local bands Johnny Nobody, of Lockport; and Beggar's Best and the Jermy Hoyle Band of Buffalo.

• Lockport concert lineup announced

  n what has become a rite of spring in Lockport, the lineup for the Molson Canal Concert Series was officially released Wednesday at Lockport City Hall. It is a multi-generational mix of bands representing the past five decades and features three prominent former front men, a major reunion, and one of the biggest party bands from the 1980s.

  Any band can be loud, but not a lot of bands are good and loud at the same time.
  Big Sugar is great and they are really loud, a fact I can attest to because my ears are still ringing well over an hour after they finished their last song, “Ride Like Hell,” which they dedicated to a group of local Big Sugar diehards in the front row at the Ulrich City Centre on Friday night.
