Kansas brings classic rock to Lockport

Lockport welcomed classic rock icon Kansas, along with opening acts Forewarned and Reign of Kindo, on Friday night at the Molson Canal Concert Series at Ulrich City Centre.

Kansas, known for songs such as "Dust in the Wind" and "Carry On Wayward Son," has toured extensively in its 35-plus years, the band has toured extensively. Despite lineup changes typical of bands of their era, Kansas has retained the core of its original lineup, including vocalist/keyboardist Steve Walsh, guitarist Rich Williams and drummer Phil Ehart. Joining them in Kansas are bassist Billy Greer and violinist David Ragsdale.

 Forewarned is an original progressive rock band that prides itself on an array of new music, including everything from blood-pumping rock songs and melodic journeys to four-part harmony ballads and more.

Reign of Kindo is a Buffalo band with a strong Christian approach in much of its music.

  n what has become a rite of spring in Lockport, the lineup for the Molson Canal Concert Series was officially released Wednesday at Lockport City Hall. It is a multi-generational mix of bands representing the past five decades and features three prominent former front men, a major reunion, and one of the biggest party bands from the 1980s.

  Any band can be loud, but not a lot of bands are good and loud at the same time.
  Big Sugar is great and they are really loud, a fact I can attest to because my ears are still ringing well over an hour after they finished their last song, “Ride Like Hell,” which they dedicated to a group of local Big Sugar diehards in the front row at the Ulrich City Centre on Friday night.
