Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Injured cyclist identified, in critical condition
The man who was injured when he was ejected from his motorcycle Tuesday has been identified as Jody D. Barron, 41, of Youngstown.
At 11:43 p.m. Baron’s bike went off Youngstown-Olcott Road near Burch Road. According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department, the operator of the motorcycle failed to negotiate the curve, drove off the shoulder and struck a ditch.
Barron was taken by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
Sheriff’s investigators are still interested in speaking with a second motorcyclist who was at the scene but left before patrol arrived.
Witnesses described the second motorcyclist as about 6-foot tall, with a stocky build and a reddish-brown goatee.
Meanwhile, Lockport police continue to investigate a Wednesday morning car-motorcycle accident on Ohio Street that left a Beattie Road man in critical condition. Steve Adkins of Beattie Road was on the motorcycle and taken to ECMC where he is listed in critical condition.
Mark C. Smith of Lockport was charged with driving while intoxicated in the incident.
