Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — HARTLAND— A garage fire caused an estimated $25,000 damage at 7438 Wheeler Road on Saturday evening.
A witness saw the garage fire and called 911 and Wright's Corners Firefighters responded. The homeowner Jeffrey Piggins, who left his home about 5:30 p.m. to attend a party, was called by his neighbor.
When Piggins arrived home, he saw flames coming from the rear of his garage and started moving equipment and gas cans from the garage area to avoid fire damage.
The fire at the garage was extinguished by Wrights Corners Firemen. Gasport Firemen were summoned for standby duties. Niagara County Cause and Origin were called for further investigation.
The estimate of damage to the detached garage was approximately $ 20,000 and approximately $ 5,000 to the residence resulting from heat exposure.
