Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — NEWFANE — A 67-year-old man on a bicycle was struck and killed while riding on Transit Road between Godfrey and Jockey Roads about noon on Monday in Burt.
Neither the name of the victim nor the driver of the car were released by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, pending notification of family.
Both the bike and the car were heading southbound. The driver was a 25-year-old woman who had 4-year-old and 3-year-old passengers in car seats in the backseat. They were not injured.
The driver of the car said she did not notice the bicyclist, according to Capt. Bob Mack.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision.
Members of the Olcott Fire Co. and Miller Hose Fire Co. responded. The accident Investigation Unit; Crime Scene Investigation and Criminal Investigation Unit were dispatched. An investigation is pending as to the cause of the accident.
