TOWN OF LOCKPORT: 2 hurt in crash
Snowy road may have been a factor in crash
TOWN OF LOCKPORT — Two people were taken to the hospital Monday morning for treatment of injuries after an accident on Old Beattie Road around 9 a.m.
New York State Police Sgt. Mark Letczyk said there were two people in one vehicle when the car slid off the road.
Letczyk said police are still conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident, but they believe the snow-covered roads were a factor in the crash.
The driver was in stable condition when sent to Erie County Medical Center, and Letczyk said the passenger may have “sustained a few more injuries than the driver.”
Police believe the driver was wearing a seat belt, but the passenger may not have been, Letczyk said.
The names of the two people involved in the crash will not be released, Letczyk said.
The Rapids Fire Co. aided at the scene.

Pension impact of stipend to be checked
A public hearing will be held next month on a proposed county law OK’ing flat-fee compensation for the public administrator.
The law would claim for Niagara County’s coffers all commissions earned by the public administrator, who handles the estates of deceased county residents who didn’t leave a will or appoint an executor. In exchange, the county would pay the administrator — who, here, also is the county treasurer — a stipend of $25,000 per year. - More Local News Headlines
