TOWN OF LOCKPORT — Bradley Marble was appointed town prosecutor by the town board Friday.
Marble, of Northledge Drive, will begin his new duties immediately. He’s taking over for former prosecutor Michael Norris, who resigned the post Thursday in light of his election as chairman of the Niagara County Republican Committee.
From a field of three attorneys considered for the appointment — Marble, former prosecutor Thomas Brandt and current Town Attorney Daniel E. Seaman — Marble won the town board’s unanimous vote. He’s been an alternate member of the town planning board since January and board members said they’re impressed with his consistent attention and contributions to site review.
“He’s young, energetic and just the kind of person we’d like to move along in the town,” Supervisor Marc R. Smith said.
Seaman had suggested himself for the prosecutor’s post only as a last resort, he said, and was glad to see Marble applied for the job.
“I’ve worked with (Marble) a number of times and I find him to be very competent. He’s a good choice,” Seaman said.
Marble, 30, is an associate in the Brown Chiari law firm; he has an office on East Avenue. He’s a trial attorney with experience mainly in state Supreme Court, he said, and some experience at the town/village court level. While a student at Albany Law School, he was a legal aide in the state Attorney General’s Office, litigation bureau, where he worked on civil rights claims and Article 78 proceedings.
As his new appointment takes effect, Marble will resign from the planning board, Smith said.
