CITY OF LOCKPORT: Drug bust nets cocaine, police say

Staff Reports

A routine traffic stop by the Lockport Police turned into a drug bust Friday.

Anthony E. Luke, 41, 178 Green St. Apt., 2, was charged with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance. He and the driver of the vehicle were also charged with violating a public health law regarding loose pills.

Officers stopped and searched the vehicle early Friday morning on Cottage Street after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign, according to the report.

Police found suspected crack cocaine in a clear plastic bag on the floor of the passenger side of the vehicle where Luke was seated, the report said.

The driver reportedly had four Tizanidine pills loose in her front pocket.

When Luke was searched at the police station during the booking process, he was found to have an additional clear plastic bag containing suspected cocaine in his rectum, according to the report. Tests later confirmed the substance found during booking was cocaine and that crack cocaine was found in the vehicle, police said.
