Shooting victim remains in ICU

TUCKER: Husband served seven years at Gouveneur Correctional.

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Authorities are trying to determine how Morris Tucker, the Town of Lockport man who shot his wife in the face before turning the gun on himself during a domestic situation Wednesday morning, got ahold of the firearm in the first place.

Tucker’s wife, LeAnne Tucker, 40, remains listed in critical condition at Erie County Medical Center, a hospital spokesperson said.

Morris Tucker, 44, allegedly shot her in the face just after 9 a.m. inside their Campbell Boulevard home and later shot and killed himself. Their 3-year-old daughter was home during the incident but was unharmed.

Federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobaccao, Firearms and Explosives are looking into the firearm matter, but nothing had been determined by Thursday evening.

Niagara County Sheriff James Voutour noted that because Tucker had been convicted of a felony, he was prohibited from possessing firearms.

Morris Tucker was convicted in Niagara County Court in 1999 of first-degree assault for a 1998 shooting in the City of Lockport that led to the death of Jennifer Behm. Tucker maintained the shooting was an accident. He served six years in the Gouverneur Correctional Facility in St. Lawrence County.

Tucker returned to state prison for violating his parole but was later released. After his second release, Tucker remained on parole until April 2011.

Wednesday’s incident triggered an almost three-hour standoff near the intersection of Campbell Boulevard and Saunders Settlement Road after LeAnne Tucker had flagged down motorists. The bleeding woman said she had been shot in the face by her husband.

LeAnne was taken to ECMC and the house at 5703 Campbell Blvd. was soon surrounded by local, county, state and federal officers.

About two hours into the standoff, the toddler came out of the house at police urging and is in the care of relatives.

Armed law enforcement personnel entered the house where Morris Tucker was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

An assault weapon was located near the body.
