Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Willow Road in Wilson will be restricted for three weeks beginning Monday as construction crews install rip rap, a protection stone, along the abutments of the bridge between Cambria/Wilson Road and Irish Road.
The contractor, Yarussi Construction of Niagara Falls, reports there will be potential traffic delays for a period of roughly three weeks.
No detours or traffic restrictions are planned and the bridge is expected to remain open to traffic in both directions at all times, however periodic temporary stoppages are expected.
The project is one of several that are either planned or under way around Niagara County.
In the village of Middleport, portions of Vernon/South Vernon Street will be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 4 for road milling.
The milling will be completed in one day. Although the street will not be closed entirely, motorists are advised to find an alternate route to avoid delays. Residents of that street have been advised to move their vehicles should they need access to them while milling is being done. The street will be open for use after the milling is complete.
Paving has not yet been scheduled, but is expected to be done within the next several weeks. Other projects listed by the Niagara International Transportation Technology Coalition include:
• Ewings Road, from Ridge Road to Chestnut Road in Newfane will be closed to traffic in both directions. Detours are posted.
• In the Town of Pendleton, lane restrictions will be enforced between 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday along Lockport Road, from Bear Ridge Road to Campbell Boulevard.
• Lane restrictions are scheduled in the City of Lockport for East Avenue (Route 31) between Vine Street to McCollum Street. The restrictions are scheduled Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. McCollum Street runs north off East Avenue, in front of the US&J office.
• Akron Road in Royalton, from Grove Road to Dewhirst Road will be closed, and a detour posted.
