Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The second annual Music in the Park event will bring the Easy Street Big Band, wine tastings and fresh and locals foods to Middleport’s Rotary Park.
The growing event, sponsored by the Royalton-Hartland Business and Professional Association, the Barge Canal Art Center and the Middleport Area Tourism and Beautification Committee, takes place from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Route 31 park.
RHBPA President Julie Maedl said this year’s event will showcase the wineries, restaurants and food vendors among the business association’s membership while bringing back the popular local music group.
“We’ve had the Easy Street Big Band play at our events for more than 10 years. Middleport really likes them, and it made sense to piggyback on the concerts,” Maedl said. “The combination has been awesome, we had hundreds come out last year instead of 30 to 40 people.”
The free concert will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., with catered food from Darrel’s Place and fresh produce and baked goods from Schwab’s farm market available for purchase. Concertgoers can also get Yancy’s Fancy artisan cheeses and sweets from the Barker Chocolate Box.
The event also features a wine tasting featuring drinks from Black Willow Winery, Chateau Niagara Winery, Leonard Oakes Estates Winery, Schultze Vineyards and Winery and Niagara Wine Trail’s newest addition —Black Bird Cider Works in Barker.
Each $15 ticket includes an etched wine glass and a chance to win a gift certificate for a hot air balloon ride over Letchworth State Park. Maedl said raffle tickets for non-wine drinkers will be available at the event.
Parking will be available at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, which sits in front of the park. Tents will be on site for cooling off, but attendees are advised to bring a lawn chair along with their dancing shoes.
