The seventh annual Erie Canalway photo contest is under way.
Entries are being accepted now through Sept. 7. Winning photos will be published in the 2013 Erie Canalway calendar.
Amateur and professional photographers may submit prints and digital images in four contest categories: Bridges, buildings and locks; For the Fun of It; On the Water; and the Nature of the Canal.
The calendar is organized on behalf of the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, which is composed of the Erie, Oswego, Cayuga/Seneca and Champlain canals and surrounding communities. The calendar is distributed throughout upstate New York, at canal-related venues including the Erie Canal Discovery Center, every autumn.
The 2012 calendar features winning photos by two area photographers, Stephen Bye of Lockport and Gerri Jones of Wilson.
