A home health care aide has been accused of stealing money from the family of a man she was caring for.
Tonia M. Truscio, 35, 18 Evans St., was charged Monday with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, and second-degree burglary, a felony.
A Walnut Street man reported Sunday that sometime between Thursday and Saturday, someone took about $100 from a red metal tin he keeps in the dining room of his upstairs apartment.
The man said he noticed the money missing when he went to put more money in the tin.
He reportedly told police that he suspected the money was taken by one of two home health care aides who come to the house and take care of his grandfather, who lives downstairs.
The man gave police information on both aides — one of whom was Truscio, the report said.
Officers reportedly took fingerprints from the tin and other evidence.
Truscio allegedly admitted to Det. Lt. John Yotter that she took about $85 in change from the tin.
She was held in lieu of $100 bail and is due today in Lockport City Court.
