TOWN OF LOCKPORT — An accident involving two tractor-trailers caused traffic backups Monday morning, as Hazmat crews were called to clean up the scene.
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Department received a call about 4:05 a.m. reporting a tractor-trailer collision on South Transit north of Robinson Road.
Both tractor-trailers were reportedly headed north on South Transit when one of them tried to make a right turn, cutting in front of the other, the report said.
The second tractor-trailer reportedly collided with the first, clipping the fuel tank and causing fuel to leak onto the road.
About 150 gallons of fuel was released, the report said.
The county Hazmat team was called to the scene to contain the spill.
Fire crews from the South Lockport and Rapids volunteer fire companies responded to the scene.
Traffic was diverted around the scene during the cleanup.
Neither driver was injured, the report said.
The investigation is continuing.
