Suspect flees Lincoln Laser Wash break

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A man suspected of attempting to break into a laser wash control panel Tuesday morning at Lincoln Laser Wash was sought by police after fleeing from the owner.

The owner said that at 7:10 a.m. he received an automatic e-mail from the laser wash control panel’s computer advising him that there was a problem inside of the panel. He drove from his residence in Gasport to the laser wash and saw a white male with a crowbar and hammer in his hands about 7:30 a.m.

The suspect said he was trying to fix the machine and the owner reached out of his window and grabbed the hammer out of the man’s hand. The owner said that by the time he was able to dial 911 on his cell phone the man was out of sight.

The suspect was last seen running west towards Rite Aid. The police were unable to locate the suspect.

Security cameras captured the suspect breaking into the laser wash control panel. Extensive damage was caused to its electronics, causing an estimated $4,000 damage.  A socket wrench was found in the ditch between the laser wash and the Rite Aid.

A witness was in the parking lot of Rite Aid in his motorized wheelchair at the time of the incident. The suspect ran past him near the front of the Rite Aid and almost struck him.

According to the witness, the suspect lives on Davison Drive. Residents of Rosewood apartment did not provide any suspect information.
