Burglary suspects found in Oregon

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Two Niagara County men — including one from Lockport — were arrested in Oregon after burglarizing a local pharmacy and fleeing the state.

William H. Chapple, III, 45, of Lockport and Cody S. Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank T. Pimentel, who is handling the case, said that two days after the Aug. 12 burglary Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies learned from an informant that the defendants committed the crimes.

Deputies executed a search warrant at Chapple’s Lockport home where they found hundreds of prescription tablets and capsules that had been stolen from the center. The two are accused of then fleeing Western New York at that time.

The defendants will make an initial appearance at a date and time to be determined at the United States Courthouse in Medford, Oregon.

Barbara Burns, public affairs officer for the United States Attorney's Office of Western New York, said court proceedings may begin in Oregon before moving back to New York state.

"They'll make an initial appearance there," she said. "There could be a couple of hearings or they could just waive everything."
