CITY OF LOCKPORT: Tax-foreclosed properties going to auction
The city’s annual property auction will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Common Council chambers, City Hall.
Twenty-seven properties — a mix of single and multi-family homes, apartment houses and vacant residential lots — will be auctioned. They were seized by the city for the past owner’s failure to pay property taxes the past three years.
An auction booklet listing each property and its attributes is available at the city treasurer’s office, or online at www.auctionsinternational.com. The booklets are free.
Properties will be sold to the highest bidders. There will be no minimum prices and no back taxes will be owed. Successful bidders will have to put down a deposit of at least 20 percent of the high bid, plus a 10 percent buyer’s premium, the night of the auction.
Bidders are strongly encouraged to check out properties ahead of the auction. According to Treasurer Michael White, building inspectors will be available on an appointment basis Monday and Tuesday to answer questions about the condition of properties.
For more information about the auction, contact the auctioneer directly at (800) 536-1401 or visit the auction house Web site.
