Guide rail going up at Lincoln-Pine intersection

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The Common Council this week approved installation of a guide rail at the Lincoln Avenue-Pine Street intersection.

Pavilion Drainage Supply Co. will supply the rail at an approximate cost of $3,900, according to the council-approved contract.

The rail is being installed atop the 'T' to protect private property at 122 Lincoln Ave. According to Mayor Michael Tucker, a stone wall in the yard there has been struck repeatedly by vehicles coming off of Pine Street.

In other business Wednesday, the Council approved the sale of 137 Elm St., a vacant lot, to nearby property owner "Sugar" Ray Robinson, 138 Elm St., for his written offer of $1,000. The city previously seized the vacant lot from its prior owner for unpaid property taxes.

Also, the Council approved issue of a special use permit to Benderson Development on behalf of Hertz Co., which will open a car rental business at Lockport Commons, 477 S. Transit St., early next year.
