HAPPENING NOW: Alleged arson suspects at large
Lockport Police are asking anyone with information on an alleged arson Wednesday night on West Avenue to contact the department.
Det. Lt. John Yotter said about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, two unknown suspects threw a Molotov cocktail at a vacant house at 180 West Ave.
The gas soaked bandana in the beer can went through the house window where it got lodged in the insulation and sparked flames, Yotter said.
“We’re going to lift fingerprints from the can,” Yotter said. He said the suspects could face first-degree arson, a Class A felony.
A witness contacted Lockport Police and Fire departments to report the fire.
Yotter said the witness told officers she heard a loud explosion and saw two unknown male suspects get into a white or silver vehicle and head south toward Stevens Street.
LFD extinguished the fire that left several hundred dollars worth of damage, Yotter said.
No injuries were rported.
Anyone with information is asked to call Yotter at 439-6719.
Contact reporter Britney Milazzo at 439-9222, ext. 6251.
