BUSINESS: Niagara USA Chamber hosting 2010 awards
Event will be held Feb. 27 at Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel
Niagara USA Chamber will honor the 2010 award recipients at the Chamber Honors annual dinner to be held at the Seneca Niagara Casino Hotel & Events Center on Feb. 27.
Each year, the Chamber honors individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to their profession and community through their leadership and dedication. This year’s awardees join that distinguished list.
• The Business of the Year is Niagara Metals, which the chamber describes as an innovative company committed to its industry and the business community.
• The Business Person of the Year is David Kinyon, economic development coordinator for the Town of Lockport. The Chamber called him an outstanding individual, and said his confidence, reliability and tireless efforts on behalf of the Niagara region make this a better community.
• The Visionary Award will be presented to Eastern Niagara Hospital. The award signifies leadership that perceives the future societal needs with a business perspective and enhances economic development.
• The Community Advocate Award recipient is Family and Children’s Service of Niagara, which the Chamber said is striving to provide human services in assisting adults, children and families in need across Niagara County.
• The Chairman’s Award, given to an individual who epitomizes outstanding civic leadership, will be presented to Niagara Falls School Board President Russell Petrozzi, whose family business, Capitol Cleaners on Main Street in the Falls, has collected and donated coats for kids in need for 42 years.
• Richard Soluri, former mayor of the Village of Lewiston, will receive special recognition for his contribution and energy “as an exceptional public servant in our community,” the Chamber said.
“Their expertise and leadership is perceived throughout our community and enhances the quality of life in and around Niagara,” said Deanna Alterio Brennen, president of the Niagara USA Chamber.
