Track Lions sweep Falcons

H.S. ROUNDUP (5-8-12): Both Lockport teams 4-0 in NFL meets this spring.

LOCKPORT — The Lockport High School boys and girls track teams remained undefeated in Niagara Frontier League action on Tuesday with   a sweep over visiting Niagara-Wheatfield on Senior Day at Max D. Lederer Field.

The Lions won the boys meet, 111-29, while the Lady Lions also improved to 4-0 in the league with a 102-39 victory over the   Lady Wolverines.

Ezra Nwachukwu (110 high hurdles, 400) was a double winner for the Lockport boys. Other individual winners for the blue and   gold were Mike Feeney (1,600), Tommy Furlong (shot put), Alex Reid (long jump), Tyler Chapman (400 intermediate hurdles),   Dan Jones (800), and Matt Kaczmarek (3,200).

Brandon Joyce won both the 100 and triple jump for the Wolverines.

In the girls’ meet, Lockport’s Faith Heal (100, high jump) and Abbey Lang (1,500, 3,000) were double individual winners.

Other winners for LHS were Kasey Johnston (100 high hurdles), Rachel Williams (shot put), Kailin Szymanski (400), Keeley Ralyea   (discus), and Olivia Kurbs (pole vault).

Jazlyn Porter (long jump, 200) was a double winner for the Falls.

• N-O BOYS TRACK

Barker 100, Roy-Hart 41

BARKER — Barker scored a Niagara-Orleans League track sweep over visiting Royalton-Hartland on Tuesday, winning the boys’   meet, 100-41, and the girls’ competition, 87-50.

Tyler Scheving tripled in the 200, 400 and 800 and Jake Haight in the long jump, high jump and triple jump to lead the defending-champion   Raiders, who stays perfect at 5-0 in the N-O.

The Raiders also had Mike Lantinen double in the 1,600 and 3,200, Jed Platt in the 400 intermediate hurdles and pole vault   and Justin Voelker in the shot put and discus.

Matt Veihdeffer won the 100 and Stephen Soemann the 110 high hurdles for the Rams, who slip to 2-3 in the league.

Wilson 95, Newfane 46

WILSON — Mike Reubens won the 800-meter dash and contributed to relay wins in the 3,200 and the 1,600 for the Lakemen (2-3   N-O).

• ECIC BOYS TRACK

Cheektowaga 95.5, Starpoint 45.5

PENDLETON — Matt Prohaska won the 1,600-meter dash for the Spartans (3-1 ECIC III).

• N-O GIRLS TRACK

Barker 87, Roy-Hart 50

BARKER — Improving to 1-4 on Tuesday, the Barker girls squad was led by a quintet of double winners including Gabby Clare   (100 high hurdles, 400 intermediate hurdles), Eliza Dewart (200, 400), Heather Mason (800, high jump), Sabrina Harris (1,500,   3,000) and Rachel Anderson (long jump, triple jump).

Wilson 78, Newfane 63

WILSON — Angela Goodman won the 100-meter hurdles, the 400-meter hurdles and the long jump for the Lakewomen (3-2 N-O).

• ECIC GIRLS TRACK

Starpoint 85, Cheektowaga 56

PENDLETON — Kaylie Schifferle, Bernice Dumbelton and Abbie Boyce were all double winners for the Lady Spartans (4-0 ECIC III)   on Tuesday.

• NFL BOYS TENNIS

N-W 3, Lockport 2

Trevor Hauck won the deciding match in a tiebreaker for the visiting Falcons (7-2 NFL).

Bailey Reid and J.J. Napoli remained unbeaten at first doubles play this year for head coach Dave Shambach’s Lions (5-4 NFL).

• ECIC BOYS TENNIS

Starpoint 4, iroquois 1

PENDLETON — Nick Filippini, Scott Wiktorowski and jake Scott made it a singles sweep for the host Spartans (5-5 ECIC II).

Justin Willis and Jacon Slade won at second doubles for Iroquois (1-9 ECIC II).
