LOCKPORT —
Lockport seniors Emily Belfield and Kassidy McFall did what they do best Tuesday, sparking the Lady Lions to a 4-0 win over visiting Sweet Home in their 2012 softball regular season opener.
McFall, a senior right-hander and Lockport ace, tossed a five-hit shutout, striking out five and walking just one as head coach Julie Kwoka’s team opens 1-0 with the non-league win. Lockport opens its 2012 Niagara Frontier League slate at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at Niagara Falls.
Belfield, a senior center fielder and returning NFL First Team all-star, homered, scored two runs and added a strong defensive play, gunning a Lady Panthers runner out at the plate with a strong throw to LHS senior catcher Nora Passuite.
Lockport senior first baseman Kelly McKeever added a double.
For Sweet Home (0-2), Jenn Rizzo was 2-for-3 with a two-bagger.

Lew-Port 7, Wilson 3
WILSON — Ryleigh Fitzgerald and Taylor Schultz were each 2-for-3 with a double for the winners (2-0) in Tuesday’s non-league win over the host Lakewomen (1-1).
• BASEBALL
Roy-Hart 11, Wilson 10 (7)
MIDDLEPORT — The Rams used a huge seventh inning rally to nip the Lakemen.
Trailing 10-2, Roy-Hart rallied for nine runs in the seventh inning and improve to 2-0 in N-O action.
Two-run doubles by Judd Jamieson and Aaron Brigham along with a two-run single by Blake Copella keyed the Rams’ decisive rally, which was also aided by seven walks.
CSAT 6, Barker 4
BARKER — Trailing 4-2, CSAT rallied for four error-aided runs in the sixth inning to earn the win.
Eric Adolf picked up the win on the mound for CSAT, striking out four.
Spencer Moore and Tyler Gregory both had two hits for Barker which also got a big 10-strikeout effort on the mound by Tim Flint over the first six innings.
Albion 10, Medina 1
ALBION — Jack Nenni and Pete Nesbitt both banged out three hits and Ryan Golden and Jon Warne each chipped in with two to lead the Albion attack.
On the mound, Connor Barleben and Travis Downs combined to hurl a four hitter for the Purple Eagles.

Will South 12, Lockport 4
WILLIAMSVILLE — Sophomores Drusilla Updegrove and Rachael Herbst each netted two goals for the visiting Lady Lions (0-2).
Lockport returns to action at 5 p.m. today at Williamsville North.
