Newfane, Roy-Hart split track meets

H.S. ROUNDUP (5-3-12): Lions '9' bows to Falls at Sal Maglie.

 

Newfane and Royalton-Hartland track teams split their Niagara-Orleans League meets on Thursday.
Roy-Hart’s boys team defeated visiting Medina, 93-48, to regain the .500 mark at 2-2 in the N-O. Staying perfect at 4-0, Medina’s   girls bested Roy-Hart, 96-44.
Newfane’s girls improved to 2-1 in the league by defeating Akron (2-3 N-O), 73-68, while the Akron boys (4-1 N-O) gained a   split by downing Newfane’s boys, 104-37.
Albion scored a sweep over visiting Wilson taking the boys meet 81.5-59.5 and the girls competition 95-46.
Frankie Pfeil doubled in the 800 and 3,200, while Stephen Soemann won the 110 high hurdles and high jump for the Rams. Liz   Offhaus doubled in the shot  put and discus and Paige Flynn the high jump for the Lady Rams.
Sophia Conner was a triple winner for the Newfane girls in the high jump, triple jump and 400.
Ashton Fiegel doubled in the 100 and 200 and Gina Henley in the 100 high hurdles and 400 intermediate hurdles for Akron.
Luke Climchuck was a double winner for the Akron boys in the shot put and discus.
• NFL BASEBALL
Niagara Falls 13, Lockport 4
NIAGARA FALLS — At Sal Maglie Stadium, Andrew DeWitt went 3-for-3, including a triple and three RBIs to help the Wolverines   avenge (10-4, 7-1 NFL) their only league loss of the season.
Chris Cardona was 3-for-4, while Mike and Joey Colosi each added two hits.
Jake Martineau picked up the mound win in relief.
The Lions dropped to 5-3 in the NFL.
• N-O SOFTBALL
Newfane 6, Medina 3
NEWFANE — Scoring three quick runs in the first inning Newfane went on to defeat Medina 6-3 on Thursday, giving both teams   3-6 N-O records.
Jamie Kerwin had an RBI single in the first inning and also a two-run single in the sixth to elad the Newfane offense.
Barker 8, CSAT 1
BARKER — Olivia Denny and Ali Denny both had three hits and Danielle Senior two to lead head coach Shannon McCracken’s Lady   Raiders (5-4) past CSAT (0-8).
Destiny Hillman picked up the win on the mound striking out five.
• BOYS LACROSSE
Clarence 15, Lockport 3
CLARENCE — Aaron Quast, Andrew Edbauer and Luke Hinton tallied goals for head coach Scott reddinger’s Lions (3-6).
In goal for Lockport, Brandon LaRoach made 22 saves.
Wilson 12, Lew-Port 7
WILSON — Tyler Martin led the Lakemen (8-3, 5-3) with three goals and three assists.
David Kish added two goals with one assist in Wilson’s Class C win.
Jacob Farmer also scored twice for Wilson and Zach Magoon had a goal and two assists.
• N-O TENNIS
Newfane 4.5, Akron 1
AKRON — Jason Jolley and Kat Jones posted singles wins for the Panthers.
Earning wins at doubles for Newfane were the tandems of Mark Badding-Jarret Hutchison, Shannon Button-Ryan Obusek and Andy   Swift-Laura Gagnon.
Allan Foss earned a second singles win for the Tigers’ lone point.
Wilson 5, Roy-Hart 0
MIDDLEPORT — Wilson was led by straight set singles wins by the trio of Zach Moxham, George Waters Jr. and Isaiah Barrett.
