LOCKPORT —
Cruising to their second straight league wins in two starts, the Lockport High School boys and girls track teams swept Kenmore West on Wednesday at sunny Max D. Lederer Field.
Head coach Miles Patterson’s boys team improved to 2-0 in the league with a 101-40 win over the Blue Devils (0-2 NFL). The Lady Lions also improved to 2-0 in the NFL with a 97-44 win over the Lady Blue Devils (1-1 NFL).
In the boys meet, Lockport’s Josh Beshaw (100, 200), Tyler Chapman (400 hurdles, triple jump) and Tommy Furlong (shot put, discus) were all double individual winners. Other individual winners for the Lions were Mitch Loiacano (1,600), Ezra Nwachukwu (400), Dan Jones (800), Zach Chenez (3,200) and Josh Steinman.
Earning relay wins for LHS were the 400 quartet of Chapman, Nwachukwu, Beshaw and Mitch Evans), the 1,600 relay team of Ryan Shaw, Mike Feeney, Kyle Failing and Kyiah Griffin and the 3,200 relay foursome of Mike Feeney, Jones, Connor Doran and Matt Kaczmarek.
Marcus Lobdell was a triple winner (110 high hurdles, high jump, long jump) for the Blue Devils.
In the girls’ meet, Lockport’s Kailin Szymanski won both the 100 and 200 dashes. Other individual winners for the blue and gold were Kasey Johnston (100 high hurdles), Emma Yates (400), Olivia Kurbs (pole vault), Faith Heal (high jump), Rachel Williams (shot put), Keeley Ralyea (discus) and Brittany Sanford (long jump).
The Lady Lions
1,600 relay quartet of Tera Perilli, Yates, J’vonna Clarke and Kennedy Smith won, as did the LHS 400 relay foursome of Dazhanna Doerr, Szymanski, Elizabeth Ellis and Heal).
Jenna Panepinto won the 800, 1,500 and triple jump for the Lady Blue Devils.
BOYS LACROSSE
Lancaster 7, Lockport 6
LANCASTER — Andrew Edbauer had three goals and one assist for head coach Scott Reddinger’s Lions, who dropped to 0-2 in league play. They are 2-3 overall.
Also scoring goals for the Lions were Luke Hinton, Zach Brown and Zach Dewey. Luke DePriest, Austin Herman and Aaron Quast had assists for Lockport.
LHS keeper Brandon LaRoach made eight saves.
Wilson 14, NT 5
David Kish had four goals and Tyler Martin added two goals and four assists for the Lakemen, who moved to 7-0 overall with the non-league win.
Jacob Farmer and Steve Keefer each had two goals and an assist, while Dakota Willis, Justin Westmoreland, Kevin Daunce and Zack Magoon each added a single tally in the win.
Newfane 13, N. Falls 3
Jake Eschborn had two goals and Mark Grozio added a single tally for the Wolverines, who fell to 1-4 in Independent Lacrosse Conference play.
No information on Newfane players was provided.
NFL BOYS TENNIS
Lockport 4, N. Falls 1
Brendan Williams won a three-set singles match and the Lions swept the doubles matches to move to 2-2 in NFL play.
Mike Gilbas led Niagara Falls (1-3 NFL) with a three-set singles win.
N-O COED TENNIS
Wilson 3, Newfane 2.5
Zach Moxham, George Waters Jr. and Steve Lakes each won singles matches for Wilson, which is 2-1 in the N-O. Newfane is 2-1.
