• LARCENY: Derrick L. Tyson, 24, 1357 Linwood Ave., Niagara Falls, was charged Tuesday with petit larceny for allegedly failing to repay a $100 debt owed to Lockport City Court since 2008. A police report said that back on April 27, 2008, Tyson was arrested on aggravated unlicensed operation and various drug charges and was released on $500 cash bail at the Lockport Police Department. On May 16, 2008, Tyson allegedly agreed to pay a fine in amount of $310 out of his bail, but due to a clerical error, he was given a check of $290, instead of the $190 difference. Lockport police reportedly contacted the suspect’s lawyer a few weeks later about the mistake, and the lawyer agreed to tell his client to return the $100. According to police, on Sept. 17, 2008, Lockport City Court Judge William Watson issued a bench warrant for Tyson’s arrest, because he violated a condition of his sentence. On Jan. 21, Tyson was reportedly arrested and appeared in court the same day. Watson said he reminded the defendant that he owed the court $100, and Tyson allegedly had failed to pay since then.
Ransomville
• SHOPLIFTING: Brittany L. Doyle, 19, 2222 Whitney Ave., Niagara Falls, was charged Monday with second-degree harassment and petit larceny. On Monday night, officers responded to a report of a shoplifting at Rite Aid on Ransomville Road. A witness told police that the suspect asked a store clerk if she could use the bathroom and on her way, allegedly put an item into her pocket. When the witness confronted Doyle, she reportedly denied taking anything. According to the report, $29.98 worth of items were taken. The victim told deputies she wanted to press charges against Doyle for shoplifting and shoving her after the confrontation. Doyle was arrested and is due back in Porter Town Court on Dec. 15.
