Town of Lockport

• DWI: Andrew J. Aikin, no age or address provided, was charged Wednesday with first-degree driving while intoxicated, speeding, failure to keep right, and no valid inspection sticker. Niagara County sheriff’s deputies said Aikin registered a blood alcohol content of 0.15 percent, The patrol observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed at 2:16 a.m. on the Lockport Bypass at Robinson Road and made a traffic stop, according to the report. Deputies reportedly smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Aikin’s breath. According to the report, he failed several sobriety tests and was taken to the Niagara County Jail, where he was held in lieu of $250 bail, pending an appearance today in Lockport Town Court.

• MARIJUANA: Travis J. Poitras, 19, 2799 Upper Mountain Road, Lewiston, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana Wednesday after sheriff’s deputies stopped the vehicle in which he was a passenger for an alleged traffic violation. Upon investigation, deputies said the driver told them there was no marijuana and said: “If you search, you won’t find anything.” Deputies said they observed Poitras moving around rapidly and searched him, finding a bag of suspected marijuana, according to the report.
