BLOTTER: Police reports published Oct. 16


City of Lockport

• GRAND LARCENY: Christina M. Pollock, 19, 2238 LaSalle Ave., Niagara Falls, was charged Thursday with fourth-degree grand larceny. A caller told police that Pollock opened an account at a South Transit Street credit union branch then approximately 15 minutes later made a $100 transaction at the credit union’s Stevens Street branch, according to the report. The caller said the suspect allegedly made a $300 deposit through the ATM, but failed to put money in the envelope, then withdrew $100. The money reportedly was obtained when the account did not have sufficient funds. Police said the charge was originally a petit larceny offense, but was increased to grand larceny after a review of the case.

• ASSAULT: James Josseph Arroyo Jr., 20, of Niagara Falls and Nicholas Cortese, 21, of Tonawanda were arrested Thursday and arraigned in before a Lockport town justice in the assault of a Lockport man in the Niagara County Jail, according to police. Bail was set in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond on each suspect.

• MARIJUANA: Raymond P. Townsend, 18, of North Street, Lockport was charged Thursday with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. Patrol reportedly initiated a traffic stop on Lake Avenue. Upon approach, police reportedly detected a strong odor of burning marijuana. Upon police questioning, the suspect allegedly admitted to smoking. According to police reports, Townsend was immediately arrested, and upon search of his vehicle, officers found suspected marijuana.
